Fine portable jointer - great service

I ordered the Palmgren from Amazon and it came in a few days. I opened the cartons and plugged it in to make sure it worked. It was fine. There was no damage, even to the packing, like many have reported. There is a lot of oil on the castings and you need to remove it with paint thinner. I got it assembled at the jobsite in about 30 minutes, but could not raise or lower the infeed table. I e-mailed customer service and Mark told me to take off the infeed table and check if something was blocking the elevation screw. I did, and found that the table frame under the infeed table was cracked and the elevation screw was bent. It had been dropped during shipping, apparently. I e-mailed Mark a picture of it and he sent me a complete infeed table assembly. It arrived in 2 days and we put it together and it works great for a portable-but weighs a hefty 100+ pounds. Palmgrens customer service is superb.

OUtfeed table is bent badly

Got the tool al assembled and everything, nice, rock-solid fence, good looking tool. I went to run some boards... not straight. Turns out the outfeed table is bent badly upwards as it leaves the body of the tool, making it impossible to joint a board more than about 1 foot long. Looks like maybe it was dropped at the factory or something, as the shipping boxes show no sign of the kind of catastrophic shock it would take to bend that much cast iron that much. I'm returning it for a replacement of the same tool, because otherwise, it seems like a great little jointer.

This is no toy !!

Arrived in 3 days, way to go Amazon! No shipping damage, as others have stated. This is a very well built tool, everything is solid and I would recommend this item to anyone with a small shop. Setup is very simple, and the machine was making perfect joints in less than an hour. Very heavy...115 pounds shipping weight. I am very pleased with this tool. A very good deal through Amazon, and an excellent price.
