Porter-Cable 557 Professional Plate Joiner Kit

I recently purchased this unit to replace a previous Porter Cable model that I been borrowing from a friend. This new unit is is much better in my opinion. The new fence allows for quick setup. The front surface has roughened surface to prevent the tool from walking away when you plung the blade in. This works much more effectivly than the two prongs on earlier units. I found that unit did not want to walk away and didn't require the level of pressure that the pronged units I have used do. I also found the repeatabiiity of the cuts to be better, possibly because this unit is better balanced for my hands. Overall I am happy with this purchase and only wish I had gotten it a few months earlier.

Great value in an excellent tool

I'm no expert when it come to plate joiners, but so far I've been very pleased. I've been able to make accurate and consistant cuts. Construction quality is first rate. For the price it's really hard to go wrong.
