loving this mower

I just opened, assembled and mowed for the first time with this mower and I have to say that I love it. I am trying to be more environmentally conscious, so this seemed like a good idea.^M

People pooh poohed the idea, telling me it would be really hard to use, but quite the contrary. It is so light that it is easy to get in/around/under trees and shrubs. I literally picked it up in the driveway with one hand and carried it into the garage, where it hardly takes up any room at all.^M

I initially went outside with it just to cut a row or two - to test it out. It was drizzling and I didn't want to mow....but I enjoyed using it so much I did the entire lawn. I have been paying the neighbor to do it and it would take him over 2.5 hours to mow and rake, took me less than 45 minutes and there is no raking!!^M

There was a definite need for overlapping rows when cutting, but the whole process went by so quickly that it didn't matter. It never clogged unless I ran over a stick that got caught up in it.^M

I would recommend this to anyone who is thinking about it, no hesitation!!

Nice Idea But Disappointed :(

I just tried one of these out after taking back an electric Black and Decker mower because the cord kept coming out and the cutting path did not meet the wheels like with regular mowers. Unfortunately this reel mower had the same problem except it cut even less grass. To make matters worse the right side of the reel was hardly making any cuts and the section that was cutting (about 60% mainly on the left side) missed a lot of grass even going over the grass several times. ^M

I can't believe manufacturers are not coming up with a non-gas engine design that actually works. I hate gas mowers, but after trying an electric and a reel, there is no choice in the matter unfortunately.

No more loud stinky gas mower!!!

I recently decided to start mowing my lawn again after I stopped my landscaping service. I was going to purchase an electric mower but after reading many reviews I decided against it since most electronic mowers wouldn't tolerate the abuse that I would put them through. And I didn't want a gas mower ever since my landscaper accidentily spilled some gas on my front lawn. So I was happy to purchase this human powered device. Makes me feel good to atleast do one thing thats friendly to the environment since I drive so much every day. Putting the reel mower together was a little bit of a trick. The handle bar cover was a little tough to slide on. The tip in the manual suggesting soap to help lubricate the handle bar was as helpful as .... NOTHING. Once I got the pad on after an hour of comical effort I put the mower to work. After about 4 weeks of use, mowing once a week, I am very pleased with the results. I haven't had any problems with uneven cutting. I've even been able to mow through very tall grass. The mower also seems to do a better job when I don't push the mower too fast. So far I have been very pleased with it. The small footprint of the mower is nice as it doesn't take up too much space in the garage.
