Product Description

This Porter-Cable brad nailer and compressor kit is a smart starter set that will have you up and running in just a few minutes. The kit includes an 18-gauge brad nailer; a 2-horsepower, 6-gallon, oil-free pancake compressor; 25 feet of 300 psi air hose; male and female couplers; Teflon tape; oil for the nailer; and 1,000 brad nails. The brad nailer is a compact, no-nonsense unit that might not be as stout as other (more expensive) nailers, but it's reliable and does its job well. It shoots standard brads from 5/8 to 1-1/4 inches long, and includes a sequential fire trigger, a safety that's located behind the driver guide for driving brads in tight spaces, easy-to-use depth adjustment, a directional exhaust port, a removable rubber nose, and a rugged plastic carrying case. The compressor is easy to transport, but still offers plenty of capacity. It produces 135 psi and has a 6-gallon capacity, enough to support heavy use of brad and finish nailers or moderate use of framing nailers. This is an oil-free unit, and its advanced Teflon coating doesn't require maintenance--a big plus on the convenience scale. The compressor's 120-volt universal motor starts easily in cold weather and draws only 10 amps--so you won't have to worry about tripping breakers inside residential homes--and you can use it with an extension cord. It also includes a high-flow regulator and an easy-to-read air pressure gauge. Overall, this combination kit offers two solid pieces of equipment at a very competitive price. It's a great way to get into air-powered tools. --Jonathon Tudor

What Some Customers Thought

Sumwhat bad

I bought this compresser and gun about a year ago. The compresser and hose is good, but watch out for the nail gun. Mine broke last week. It wont drive any nails to the surface, even after I adjusted the depth gauge. I wonder if it had to do anything with when it accidently slipped off a piece of wood, and I accidently fired at concrete, and then that little piece came rolling out when I got the jammed nail out. Get the compressor, question the nail gun.

ODD PROBLEM-BAD ENGINEERING

After the second day the nailer became inoperable. The trigger cover would not depress the trigger. I fiddled around with it for a couple of hours becoming more and more frustrated. I remembered a review here about the safety. I noticed a small metal flap under the trigger. I don't know if this is a safety but this metal flap was not pushing the trigger cover. I took a piece a wire and tied the flap to the cover. This solved my problem. My question...why should I have to do this on a tool I've had two days?^M

My other problem. In the box is a piece of paper that states call this phone number for problems before you call Amazon. I called the number(before I solved the problem). The only thing the Porter Cable person said was "why don't you return it to Amazon. What do you want me to do?" That's it. Why have that flyer in the box.^M

I will think long and hard before I ever buy another Porter-Cable tool.^M

Wish I had visited Sears

After ordering this I received the Sears flyer in the Sunday paper. Significantly better deals with greater capabilities and additional tools included for near half the price.
