| Product Description You can tell from the price that this is not the choice for industrial-grade users, but it's a decent enough hose for the home woodworker who's using a wet-dry vac or small dust-collection system. We like that it's so flexible, turning corners in a small shop without struggle. And we like that it retracts to a fraction of its extended length, saving lot of space. We wouldn't recommend connection to a larger dust-collection system, though, because the material is not rigid enough to withstand a huge amount of suction. Though we didn't experience any collapse during suction, we think it's possible with a larger machine. Still, it's a nice, sturdy hose for the home woodworker, and the price is right.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste |
| What Some Customers Thought
4" Dryer Hose Anyone? Very Flexable, but very soft. If dryer type hose is what your application calls for, this is the stuff for you...
Don't use this for permanent connections! If I had this purchase to do over again I would have invested in better quality hose. This stuff is VERY flexible and it collapses with ANY amout of vacumm resistance. Because of this the inside surface is rougher and more resistant to airflow. I'd say it's great for applications where you need mobility because it's so flexible, but a poor choice for permanent connections to your machines.
"Flexible" slinky hose but good quality This was not what I expected when I purchased it. It is very flexible and I was thinking it would be more like a shop vac hose but it is more like dryer vent hose that came collapsed (like a slinky) in a 4 foot box.^M ^M Well, for what I paid, what did I expect. I was comparing this price to suppliers charging much more and was excited to find it at this price. ^M ^M I am using it, though, and it is actually good quality, very sturdy, and well made for a hose of this type. It has a nice heavy wire that keeps the sides from collapsing. What happens, though, is that when the dust collector is turned on the hose shortens with the suction which pulls on the tool which you have it attached. On the table saw the hose shortens up and can obstruct my cutting path so I have to be sure that I have the it routed in a way to prevent this from happening.^M ^M I may change the hose out at some point but for now it is working. I just installed the dust collector and I am sure I will be making several changes on my installation over time. ^M ^M But the delivery was quick, the quality is good, and the price was right so I am still giving it 4 stars.^M
